Pras, the lucidness of your travelogue compelled me to read it thrice! Your sentence, "We had been warned that vegetarian food is not easy to get, BUT....." told me that travel surely broadens the horizon of the mind. Travel usually demolishes stereotypes.
Where is the need to plan such an arduous ( seems like at my age!!) trip to Nagaland as I feel I have just witnessed " The Hornbill Festival" this morning!!
Your verbal description and visuals are so realistic and incredible, I am totally bowled over and over whelmed!!
I have been to Nagaland many years ago on NGO work. Sadly, it was not at the time of the Hornbill Festival. The landscape itself is beautiful. I was amused when people would ask me ‘So you have come from India?’ But truly, it looks and feels like another world than the rest of India.
We recently had been to Meghalaya and Assam but though we travelled by road we were not asked for any regn. Of course we stayed in top class hotels and resorts but we were spared of the prior regn: requirement which a friend had warned me about. In fact I asked the tour operator about it bit he said we did not require it. Good that you could get to see the HBF which we didn't though we travelled pretty close to the day it's held. Not sure if I really missed it. We did go to Sikkim recently on another trip. So we may not make another NE trip soon. Will go through your links. Saw Kaziranga and the Rhino's and the caves though.

Thanks Anand, well said.
Welcome back! Thanks for the account of your refreshing and enriching holiday. Read with interest. So much to see and absorb in India.
Thank you 😊

Please keep our spirits soaring high this way.

Thank you for the compliments. I'm delighted that my post took you on a virtual tour.

So true
I have always stayed away because of concern that - will it worth all the travel time and the advance travel planning?
Will take on your suggestion Pras. Nature has a lot to offer in that part of our country.
Nagaland needs your patronage. There are hiking trails for an adventurous person like you.
