There is a wonderful Beatles song - Let it be. This is another word for "Leave it". It's wisdom to 'buy time' and 'sleep over' a difficult or emotional decision. So we let mother nature (reason led and not emotion led) settle the issue.

By letting the situation tide over, we cut our losses and avoid digging a bigger hole. As the saying goes -' Even this will pass'.

Like so many Indian expressions (swalpa adjust maadi for one, bidu), 'leave it' seems to me so Indian. And we understand perfectly this phrase which steps in for - let go, give up, don't sweat it, get over, cool it and others.

The first thought that came to my mind when I read this filter coffee was exactly what Tarun has already stated - let it be! I do agree that this is more an Indian phrase like Lakshmi has already stated. So since everyone has already commented all that is necessary for this post- I think il let it be and leave it and not comment 😜

On a serious note - sometime we have thoughts like this but the effort and time it would take to undertake the act has to be assessed based on outcome expected. So if it is not worth our time and effort then we always will leave it or let it be! Time is a precious thing and we rather spend it wisely and on things that give us happiness and worth the outcome.

This comment on this post and also reading this post was definitely worth the time and effort so not letting it be !

I could relate to every one of these situations - seeing people spit and pee in public (once I saw a person getting out of a Merc to relieve himself on the wall on CV Raman Road near IISc), break traffic rules left, right and center. I have the habit of arguing with all these people.. only to hear my family whispering in my ears 'Leave It'. They do not want me to get into any trouble - I remember my wife requesting a person who was driving in the wrong direction near Sadashivnagar during our morning walk to move on, as he came menacingly towards me when I questioned him.

One of my new year's resolutions is to keep calm and move on in such situations, but I still find myself struggling to 'Leave It' when I see the civic and public apathy to keep our beautiful city clean.

My family has the constant fear of me getting beaten up one day by NOT 'Leaving It'.. :)
