Hi Prasanna, Filter Coffee 007 was very informative. Your article on WILLS is really helpful to most of us and more so to me as I have yet to make a Will. Webinar on WILLS is welcome. Your interview with Ant-man Mr Sunil is very interesting. Potpourri portion was quite entertaining.

Excuse me for the delayed comment.

Filter Coffee is more than an article or blog - it is a newsmagazine!

Do let us know if/when you conduct the webinar on Wills.

And a question for Ant-man Sunil: what is the role of these little guys in the ecosystem?

Always enjoy reading Filter Coffee. Interesting topics presented in a very easy manner.

And, already we are in issue 007. The interviews with Ms.Laila, Ms. Anna and this issue have all been enlightening. The explanation on advisability of having segregated roles for Chairman and CEO was illuminating.

Your piece on Wills brought back memories of a case we had handled to prove Hiba ( an oral gift) which was not mentioned in a subsequent will, with a lot of complications and interesting learnings and outcomes. A webinar on Wills would be a good idea.

Looking forward to the next edition of Filter Coffee!

Thanks Pras for Filter Coffee # 008.

The roundtable with Mr. Cyril Shroff was interesting.

I find not only the access to justice is difficult but also the verdict from the court cases get unduly delayed making true of legal maxim “Justice delayed is Justice denied”. Will be nice to get your views and way forward in this regard.

Thanks for telling us about the activities of Iprobono India for improving the access.

Knowing about the art and science of Coffee making will be useful for tea drinkers like us.

Regards,

Shailendra K. Jain

Interesting and relevant topics Pras. Regarding wills, when a property is held in joint names, it does not automatically devolve on the survivor, especially if it is immovable property. This is done through a will or a deed of succession. Courts have ruled that except for shares, even nominees to bank accounts are only trustees and does not confer automatic inheritance rights. The will or the deed of succession determines this. It would be nice to hold a webinar on this subject since this issue affects everyone and it would be very helpful.

Once again a very thoughtful and interesting article. The smooth flow makes for a good read. Perhaps a Webinar on the correct way of writing a will, obtaning probate by the executor, and other such how-to's will be very useful for most people.

Hi Pras, great Sunday reading. On the subject of smooth estate transfer, I understand that creating a family trust is better in some ways. a) It cannot be attached (b) even if the estate duty is reintroduced, the same will not be applicable on trust. What are your thoughts on the same

On a different note, I have started writing SriRamajayam (daily 1 page) as an exercise bro fingers and to some extent maintain the hand writing

Thanks

Pras, great reading on a wide range of topics. Have a doubt though. Not clear about the two conditions for a will. Never hear about the need to leave no heirs excluded. Similarly about that 1/3rd rule. I think a clarification will be in order for the larger benefit of all.

I loved reading this edition! Such a range of subjects and so many useful links!

I had one question on Wills. Doesn’t writing a Will make it mandatory to get it probated and therefore make the asset list public? Isn’t there a fee for probating the will?

If it is well known that the estate can be settled amicably among the heirs, would nomination be easier to implement? Thank you.
