The loss of an absolute legend. Just contemplating on the fact that he sang over 40k songs is mind numbing. There is a petition being circulated that the Bharat Ratna should be conferred on him albeit posthumously and I am a firm believer of the same. If Tendulkar was awarded the country's highest honor for scoring a century of centuries then almost half a lakh songs and that too in various languages is no mean feat either.
The fact that October 2nd is now known more for it being a dry day and that liquor stores are abuzz the night before really paints a picture of how many even reminisce the Mahatma and his sacrifices for the nation. Social media and whatsapp university is only trying to bring out the negativity by making him responsible for the partition. I only hope that people focus on the positives and leave all the historical uncertainties aside.
Time is an aspect that certainly flies! It seems like it was yesterday when you were to embark on a journey of publishing this column and even before we realized we are already reading the 14th edition!! Here's to many more interesting articles that will be penned in the near future!!
Your piece on Mahatma in this week’s Filter coffee was illuminating and inspiring particularly the statement that “Mahatma died inside when partition took place”. Though I am a senior citizen, I was unfortunately born after the Mahatma had passed away. So my impressions may be tainted by other views on him. However, I am particularly awed by his life and statements, which more often than not, (going by his life story) he lived by. Two statements I would like to quote here are “There are many causes I would die for. There is not a single cause I would kill for” and the other “They may torture my body, break my bones, even kill me, then they will have my dead body, but not my obedience.”
Here was a person who did not make statements just because they sounded pompous or got votes but because, I feel, he believed in it. Yes, he was special. As Albert Einstein said of Gandhiji “Generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as this ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth”. I also go by Mani Srinivasan’s comment on Shastri and Kamaraj. These are people of a different era and of a different lot. They don’t make people like them anymore.
The tribute to SBP exhibits how he and his voice dwelled on each one of us. Sure it is going to be there for generations to come.
On Gandhi the father of our nation, true his heart would have died during the partition. The bullet was only a saviour for him so that he did not have to die many times later. If he was there now watching the division now among people, how many times would he have to die.
A good birds eye view on adoption law. The fact that female were treated like a commodity with out giving any respect, leave alone self respect and the fact that the Act has brought in a remarkable change has been nicely put forth.
I would also like to remember 2nd October for two other great Indians and Gandhians.. Lal Bahadur Shastri and K Kamarajar. While we all know about Shahstriji, not many are aware of the greatness of the latter.. Kamarajar died on 2nd October 1975. He was undoubtedly the best Chief Minister Tamil Nadu ever had. He brought in free education and mid-day meals to all students. In a country known for ministers accumulating wealth, he died with just Rs. 7/- in his 'jippa' pocket.. A great soul!
Adoption: What is the legal position of the rights of transgenders to adopt? What will be the psychological impact on the child?
For those who are sixty plus: Pras has given wise tips to grow old gracefully. Some of these are narrated in detail by Zhou Daxin in his latest book "The Sky gets Darker" which is yet to be published. He adds an advice "Don`t say later, because it means never". You can watch the highlights of the book in this link https://getjoy.in/old-age/
Other aspects of adoption there is no legal adoption in Muslims and Christians similarly there is no concept of ancestral property it's only fostering foster child has no right of inheritance
Proof of adoption under sec16 of the act there is a presumption that if there is a document evidecing adoption the same is proved unless disproved
Coming to rights of inheritance an adoptive child is entitled for equal share in d ancestral property both in d family of origin and adoptive family
Thank you! In the upcoming newsletter I will be covering "adoption" by Christians and Muslims.

I'm very grateful Ashok for taking time out to pen your thoughts. Much appreciated 🙏
Scholarly my friend. The reminders for the 60 plus was timely. Enjoyed reading it.
Thank you 😊
