A very pertinent topic in today’s age and era of everything virtual.
Another related aspect, interestingly, is due to the way human brain function and the need for all these short form is because “Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.”
A warm hug to you ( not perhaps appreciated still as the 3rd wave is on!!)
rather a virtual hug ( I can imagine you breathing easily!!) to express my amazement at your multi dimensional approach to all the topics you have dealt with to make it interesting and simple to the reader.
My explanation of abbreviations are, I am totally opposed to using them unless the standard dictionary has them! The constant use of modern abbreviations indicates you are in a hurry or you do not know how to spell the real word!
Constant use of e mojis as response is very hurting to the person who has taken the interest and time to ccommunicate!!
I still reminicise my younger days when I eagerly waited for the postman to deliver letters from my family, friends and very special people( !!!!).
I wonder who will vote for my old fashioned thoughts😀
Wishing you well and eagerly awaiting for the next dose😎
A warm hug is most welcome!! Thank you for echoing my sentiments against using brevity in any form in response to someone's warmth encased in words. Yes we are dinosaurs but will live life on our terms. Love and hugs - Pras
Probably, at least, I feel that the use of emoji’s and abbreviations could be or may be due to the advent of technology. The advent of twitter, for example taught you that limiting characters does not reduce effectiveness in communicating. So perhaps POTUS and such abbreviations etc. came to be used. I have not done any lengthy research on this and I could be wrong so please feel free to correct me.
Speaking of Abbreviations, Initialism, Numeronyms, Acronyms & Emojis does the term “First Lady” qualify for any of these terms, Probably not, as this was used much before any of those other terms came into popular use. Often the term “First Lady” could often have more characters than the name itself.
Nevertheless, I must congratulate you on continuing this season of learning every Sunday though FC. This time, “numeronyms” was new to me and I didn’t know we were heading to an Y2K38 problem soon. Most of all, I appreciate you putting all these together and making us think of what we have been using/doing for so long without batting an eyelid. And I didn’t know G2G was for ‘got to go'. I would have taken it as Govt to Govt (sorry for the Govt. abbreviation there) like B2B and if the context was not right, I would be scratching my head trying to figure what it could be.
I reiterate what I said. For example, what may appear as a small paragraph in a page could appear to be much larger on what’s app and are often left unread in what’s app because of the size. This has probably again led to the use of more emoji’s and abbreviations. . (No research here again I confess. Just a logical (to me) conclusion of my own. I may be wrong.)

I am sure everyone can comprehend the above (taken from https://www.mrc-cbu.cam.ac.uk/people/matt.davis/cmabridge/)
I rest my case 🙈
Thank you for your insightful comments and the example you shared.

Actually Potus refers to Biden currently but all US presidents are referred to as Potus which stands for President of the United States.
Yes indeed. Thank you! Love and hugs.

Thank you Shahji for your thought-provoking comments. Some to chew on.
