“Lead, kindly Light”, even though found in Christian Hymn books, there is no reference to Christ or Christianity in any of the stanzas. This Hymn and "Abide with Me" was a favourite of MK Gandhi. This Hymn exerted a powerful influence on Mahatma Gandhi's spirituality and India's struggle for independence. “Lead, kindly Light” came to represent the spirit of his satyagraha campaigns against the British.
The heading could also be interpreted as Asato Ma Sadgamaya " lead me from untruth to truth. "
I loved reading your latest edition " Lead kindly light"
It is familiar since school days, and I have silently expressed this in many situations but hats off to youand your interpretation is brilliant and one of the best. You take us through many avenues to make us understand and assimilate the core point. I am truly over whelmed and in all humility I bow down to your scholarly interpretations.
" 'tamaso ma jyotirgamaya’ is not a prayer for the material things of the world, but for pursuing the path of enlightenment. " completely agree... a great guru once said "never beg before the Lord, be thankful for what you have... the Lord always has your back.
Very nice

A beautiful one, Prasanna. Did you know Lead Kindly Light has been translated into Kannada entitled Karunaalu Baa Belake
Please read in the second paragraph as .....I agree that I know little - almost nothing"..."
Thank you Shahi for those nice comments. Much appreciated.
