in Kannada it is itta dari atta puli and it is between Scylla and the Charybdis

Scylla a six headed monster living on a rock on one side of a narrow strait. Charybdis a whirlpool. ships trying to avoid Charybdis, would pass near Scylla's rock and get devoured. or get sucked in if went near Charybdis.

can dilemma be considered as opposite of Hobsons choice.

Dilemma is a every day problem one way or the other, literally. Why should the way we opt is invariably the wrong one?

I do not know if should stop it or continue.

Pras, your 146 editions of FC is sufficient to prove that you are a gifted writer. May your tribe increase and how I wish I belonged to the same tribe. Your FC topics are always thought provoking. Both the first and the second thoughts 😊 and without fail it can be related to incidents in one’s own life.

I by habit am a small eater and I abhor wasting food. When I attend wedding dinners, the spread is so sinfully large. Every continent’s cuisine is in the offering. It also serves as a lesson in geography. I am truly on ‘Horns of a Dilema’. What and what not to eat. I am prone to making a wrong choice and end up having to eat it. My wise wife suggested that I eat a spoonful of all the dishes to decide. At the end of the 'Discovery Channel, I am so full that I cant eat the one I liked most !

As usual, reading through Pras writings are indeed very delightful and interesting not to mention the wide range of learnings that one gets in the process. I like his way of providing the link for whatever he refers to.

Another thing I like about his writings are the extent he goes to in explaining a term, I didn’t think he would discuss the movie “Sophie’s Choice” While discussing the term “on the Horns of Dilemma” in FC #146. Incidentally that one time he did not provide the link to the movie or the novel which incidentally won the award in 1980 for US National Book Award for Fiction.

Nice read Pras.

I guess in the case of moral and ethical delimmas the filter hierarchy would be - Conscience followed by Reason and then by Feelings.

In commercial dilemmas it would be - Reason then Conscience and then Feelings.

My mantra is - don't make decisions when you are Tired, Hungary, Horny, Angry or Hazy.

A philosopher lifts you out of moral dilemmas!!!!!!! After enjoying your fresh and frothing filter coffee it helped me come out of a seemingly impossible dilemma of to comment or no- you served me a brilliant clue!!!!!!

Thanks Prasanna, excellent reading all FCs. Latest sample dilemma for coorgs this time was the elections , continue support to central leadership or give chance to our local boy , who managed a ticket. It was really funny to see some taking things for granted and some people working hard. Naturally hard campaigning won, thin margin. My comment has no political leanings, please.

Wishing you no dilemmas to continue FC!

Best regards
