Dear Prasanna, My phone was nonfunctional for almost a fortnight and I was out of touch with all WhatsApp correspondence. Yesterday my phone started functioning. I read your post. We feel extremely bad that you had a fall and sustained wrist injury. Thank God that there is no need for surgery. Only Prasanna can convert an unexpected fall and injury into a very interesting subject for conversation. Wish you a speedy recovery to normalcy and activity. Love and good wishes from all of us. Garudu.

Dear Pras , Wishing you a speedy recovery. On the topic of " Single hand " i remembered the old story. CEO wanted to recruit a legal Head. But he told the head hunter , i want a lawyer with only one hand. Head Hunter was surprised and asked him why this funny request. CEO said , my previous legal head will always say " On the one hand you can do this and on the other hand you can do this. I never got a firm view . Hence i want a lawyer with only one hand " Pras joke is not at your cost. You are one of the rare person who will not mind taking a bold stand and stick to it. Wishing you a speedy recovery. SGM

Wish you speedy recovery Pras!

It's wonderful to have the skill and initiativd to do things single handedly. Truly, "apna haath Jagannath" is about individual skill and drive. If one couples this with the attitude - "together we prosper, divided we fall". This is an important ingredient for successful teamwork and leadership.

I am going out on a limb here, but I am sure you can singlehandedly put out your weekend edition even in your weakened state. In this digital age, you will have no problem in dictating your words of wisdom and humour. I have to hand it to you, your prolific writing has me amazed. I am not pointing fingers, but people with a lot less time on their hands don’t achieve what you have done. If you miss an edition, it will stick out like a sore thumb, so keep the coffee flowing. Anyway, I think Geetha Chechi will enjoy having you under her thumb for a short while. I want to keep a finger on the pulse, so please keep us updated about your progress. I am glad that Kanchi is on hand to keep your spirits up. As this is getting out of hand, I will wish you a speedy recovery and sign off.

It is very interesting how you pick up a mundane phrase and creatively make it a discussion point.

Speaking of ,"single handedly", reminds of single parenting, particularly of those women who are widowed with young children to be taken care of. Their lives are often a struggle but they do come out strong and resilient.

One such person that I will never forget is Subamma. Cruel tradition made her shave her head, wear a drab red sari and walk barefoot.

She used to prepare condiments and munchy snacks ("hurugallu", being her forte) and carry them door to door in the hot sun. She was a regular provider to my mother.

One day she came limping with a crude bandage tied across one of her feet. You could make out that it bled a lot, by the colour of that wrap. She had stepped on a rusty nail the previous day and was in terrible pain

My mother made her sit down and show her the wound. We were shocked to learn that she had applied some cowdung as an antiseptic.

A few days later, her son came home and told us that Subama passed away, due to gangrene!

Thanks to her legacy the condiment vending that she had started has become a very popular business, run by her grandsons. Even though the name of the shop, in H B Samaja road, is something else, every one knows it only as Subamma angadi and the wares sold by it as Subamma " saru pudi", "chutney pudi", and so on..

Pras, amazing how you have converted an unfortunate accident into an opportunity to write a blog. A fall during the season’s fall and the doctor’s advise to rest until spring to spring back into action ! A (Singapore) Sling, a stiff one at that, not only to hold your broken arm but also to dull the pain ! Your are the kind to 'never say die' !! Thank your stars it is your left hand out of action. Use pen and paper like the good old days. A good SHEAFFER pen is advised.

Prasanna. Thank you for FC. You are an inspiration to all. Wish you speedy recovery. Having said that you will be, literally speaking, single handed for sometime. 😀. Achieving one’s goal single-handedly is the manifestation of single minded devotion. APJ Abdul Kalam famously said “To succeed in your mission, you must have single-minded devotion to your goal.” To borrow your style, Ciao. Raghavan

Hey Prasanna

Great read as always!

Wishing you a very speedy recovery with your hand.

Just want to mention here that single-handedness is what many single parents practice. It has its pluses. Some not so great aspects too. Fortunately, things are changing and the term single parent is becoming less synonymous with single mother.

Good to see that there is more support out there for single parents.

A bit shocking to hear about your fall but more shocking is the way you have single handedly handled the situation and managed to convey in such a positive manner! You surely deserve a treat when you are out of the sling.

I wish you GOD SPEED.

Oh Prasanna! What an unfortunate accident (although all accidents are unfortunate, for that matter). I got to read this edition of FC just now instead of early morning as I usually do as I joined up for HaBuild, an online yoga platform. So, I'm trying to be consistent with the yoga, even on Sundays when I might well be happily asleep for longer.

You are a shining example of the adage "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade." Your FC post of today leveraged your temporary 'single-hand' status to create an interesting offering. Do get well soon. Whether single-handed or double-handed, you are an interesting person, without a doubt!

You are like Rishab Pant.. Can 'single handedly' safe a match for India or hit a 'single handed' six even while falling on the ground.. This FC is one such. ..

Get welll soon, Pachu mama.. and see you soon batting with both hands.. :)

Am sorry to learn about your accident and the resultant injury causing you to manage things single handedly. Wishing you speedy recovery.

There are certain jobs that are best done single handedly to bring out excellence. A sculptor does carving of an idol out of a granite stone singlehandedly to get the result as per his imagination and description. As you have mentioned, in the USA where the manual labour is prohibitively expensive, and with the items coming with appropriate instructions one is able to assemble things out of compulsion. Now a days of course the 'team work' is in vogue to complete projects in time for delivery.
