It's when the offer is perceived to be attractive and the price seen as really cheap the buyer can get lulled into taking his eyes of the product. "Really cheap" always turns out to be very expensive. Buyer decision must look at - need vs want + the pocket and the pig + all commercial aspects to arrive at "value for money".
Legal education on some aspects of contract law very well put with apt illustrations!!!!! May be Pras you should take to teaching law!!! That's if you haven't so far!! look forward to your next FC.
Goosebumps as you approach the double century mark!! The fact that you wrote this in spite of a personal loss shows your unwavering commitment to the readers.
Another very well known idiom that comes to mind is "seeing is believing". We are in the era of online shopping and it is not uncommon for us to receive something else when compared to what was actually seen.
The law of caveat emptor has truly evolved with the buyer having to go through a plethora of T's & C's before they accept something. The irony is none of us really have the patience to read them and blindly click on accept.
Lastly cost of quality matters for one to be a satisfied buyer amidst all those duplicates and look alikes!!
I have now been reading filter coffee for 2 years I think… so nice to see that you are soon going to write the 200th piece. When is the book coming ? Each topic every week is so thought provoking! Thanks.
To the topic of today… it instantly took me to the due diligence process and all M&A deals where due diligence isn’t thorough and you get a cat instead of a pig… thankfully we can seek indemnities now even if we buy the pig in the poke, right !

Trust you TK to put it so eloquently .
Thanks much.
Interestingly, these days one must be careful with the poke itself. Specifically in real estate.
