Loved your wonderful piece on Bonding in this edition of FC on a lovely morning post a rainy night with birds chirping on the trees outside my balcony . Bonding is soo important in today’s busy world and will overcome all negative feelings and a feeling of isolation . Hoping you bounce back completely after your bout of flu! Cheers !
A wonderfully penned article sensitive & a pleasure to read as always. On a lighter note regarding the flu (Cold, cough) you had if I had know my remedy in days gone by. Doctors brandy 60ml, 90ml hot water with a clove and teaspoon of honey 2 shots and you are as good as new haha. Nowadays i just sip hot water with honey and clove works wonders it kills the bacteria/virus or at least inhibits it's persistence (this was told to me by a doctor friend).
I enjoyed reading about the warmth of a bonding relationship in your FC. We may relate to many people, we may be cordial to others and friendly with many others but we bond with only a few. To me, bonding is when I meet this friend or cousin (or dear relative) months or years later, and we are able to take up where we left off without missing a beat. In my case it is more with friends than relatives. Such is my life.
Strong bonding between siblings can bring so much of peace as one becomes older. No other relationship can be so healthy!
Bonding between women friends , again as they become older and mature can be a cathartic experience.
But the most peaceful bonding, laced with respect and love in equal measure is between a married couple who have grown older together and look back at their pasts as memories to be cherished and live their present with utmost care for each other, maybe watch serials together, laugh together, dine together and go on tours together!
That ladies and gentlemen is the ultimate bonding
But let's be careful lest bonding becomes bondage that stifles and kills relationships , mars the beauty of togetherness and makes one wish that the end be round the corner.
This one really got me thinking, especially the contrast between bonding and bondage. I’ve seen that subtle line blur in real life — what starts as closeness sometimes morphs into dependence, and not always in a healthy way.
The bit about siblings resonated too. In my own family, we’ve had moments where one sibling was clearly more bonded with another sibling— because of personality and emotional wiring. It shaped how we each opened up, or didn’t.
This Sunday’s filter coffee was both reflective and gently provocative. This nudges us to revisit some of our own relationships and attitudes with a little more awareness.

Thank you Naina. The cold is on the wane.

Your dry remedy doesn't wet the cold lips.
😀

Thank you Lakshmi. I'm sure there are many who find solace with friends than relatives.

Thank you for the insightful and thought provoking comments. Much appreciated.
I don't think, Prasanna, that there can /will be any argument, as to the distinction you drew between male bonding and female bonding 😄
Ah! You too are a feminist Jai.:)
